Limited # of options: Many women suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) which often causes coarse hair growth pattern similar to that of a man. Successful treatment of pcos, which is very difficult, will help. Spironolactone may help some folks, but will take many months to see small changes. Waxing/plugging or electrolysis can help too. This is a difficult problem and laser is probably easiest. Good luck.

There are some health conditions such as thyroid problems that can give dry coarse hair.

This may surprise : There is a sort of baldness that is inherited from the mother - even though she doesn't show it even as thin hair. It still runs through the x chromosome to her children and it shows in the male children as a type of pattern baldness.  But yes. Having a father you describe and being as you describe yourself - you are not likely to go bald. Just don't bet your life on it. ;-).

Hair?: A few coarse hairs would not be a good reason to start birth control pills.  I would try something with fewer side effects like shaving or plucking.  Or trim the hairs short.
