i have a small incident of alopecia areata and was prescribed a taro clobetasol topical solution, clobetasol propionate 0.05%. ive been using it twice a day for six weeks so far but have seen little results. when does this medication start working?

: Your dermatologist may recommend continuing to 8 weeks or even 12 weeks, but it would not be unreasonable to call him/her and explain that the medication you are applying faithfully as directed does not seem to be having much of an effect.

Depends on the cause: If its normal male or female pattern hair loss, then Minoxidil is better.  But if the hairloss is coming from an inflammatory condition like lupus or lichen planopilaris, then clobetasol is better.

i am currently taking clobetasol propionate on scalp and having side effects.  what other prescriptions could i use for dandruff?

Talk to your PCP.: There are other corticosteroid lotions available that you can try including fluocinolone and triamcinolone. You can also use Selenium Sulfide shampoo or ketoconazole shampoo.

Yes, probably.: Intralesional steroid injections are pretty much the only thing that is effective for alopecia areata, because the steroid has to get down to the level of the hair roots to have a beneficial effect, and topical steroids don't get down there. Given enough time the hair will usually grow back by itself, eventually, but it will take a long time; steroid injections speed things up considerably.

i have alopecia areata in the scalp and sebaceous cysts on my private area. are these two conditions connected?  should i have the cysts removed?

Loss of hair: common on the cyst once cyst removed bald area disappear , if you have bald areas with out cyst then is alopecia areata then should see a dermatologist ( skin  doctor )

i had smooth bald spot and new hair grew back, would that be alopecia areata?now crown and sides are really thin you can see my scalp clearly. y?

Sounds like it: Alopecia areata can regrow on its own without treatment. If you are experiencing more hair loss though then I would follow up with dermatologist
