Talk to your PCP.: There are other corticosteroid lotions available that you can try including fluocinolone and triamcinolone. You can also use Selenium Sulfide shampoo or ketoconazole shampoo. Reference from the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapuetics, 2013.

Knowing HistoryHelps: For dandruff initial Rx usually consists of a medicated shampoo such as ketoconazole or cicloopirox(both anti-fungal), selenium sulfide, salicylic acid or coal tar. Topical corticosteroids are added if needed. In more severe cases(seborrheic dermatitis) oral anti-fungal medications are used. Light phototherapy can be helpful.
