missed a dose of my clindamycin for tonsillitis, i started them on tuesday, missed tonights dose my stomach is just too upset. am i ok to wait till morning? i feel 95% better but know i need to finish them

is clindamycin safe and effective to take for tonsillitis?

Possibly but: Clindamycin is effective but has a black box warning. It can occasionally cause a severe colitis due to a bacteria called C. difficile. Other antibiotics can cause this also, but more likely with clindamycin.  Penicillin or amoxicillin would be the first choice, unless your allergic to penicillin. If allergic, clindamycin is a reasonable choice or azithromycin(less likely to cause colitis).

i was prescribed 300mg of clindamycin 3x a day for 14 days for tonsillitis. does that does mean my cause is really bad? i am concerned with the dose.

First: was a culture of the throat/tonsils performed?  Were the antibiotics based on culture results?  Are you penicillin allergic?  The dose and duration of the antibiotic is irrelevant until you can answer these questions of get the answer from the prescriber and if they say "for a viral tonsillitis/pharyngitis" throw out the antibiotics and find a new doctor/provider....or whatever we are....

i have tonsillitis for 5days. taking clindamycin 300 my q8 for 24h. my fever still coming back.  when does fever subside?

Need recheck: If fever persists more than 3 days after treatment initiated, you need a recheck. Several possibilities exist. You may have a resistant bacteria causing the infection and need a different medicine. The infection may be viral, even something like mono, and antibiotics won't help at all. You may also have developed a complication such as a tonsillar abcess. Regardless, if still fever, need recheck!

4th day taking clindamycin 300 mg 3x a day for exudative tonsillitis,  advised to take it for 7 days. barely see any improvements yet. when will it totally heal the pus pocket on my tonsil?

If correct meds: If the bacteria stimulating the inflammation of the tonsil and causing an exudate, it can take up to 10 days for a full effect.  If no change has occurred by now you should see the doctor and ask for a culture of the area to diagnose the actual cause, bacteria or virus and appropriate treatment can be performed once the actual cause is known

May be temporary...: If Liver enzyme elevated to begin with Clinda may make it  worse ( contradicted in severe hepatitis) . Make sure to recheck after treatment and keep well hydrated. Avoid any alcohol, Tylenol. Add to your regimen after Antibiotics high dose " Probiotics"- Kefir, Yogurt, and supplement VSL#3/Vsibiome 450 mil . it controls Gut bacteria  and restore immune system. Have your MD recheck labs .

Can be: The tonsil can hypertrophy and remain enlarged even after the infection has resolved. For reassurance consult an Otolaryngologist if you are concerned about only one tonsil being enlarged.
