after using monistat 1 (tioconazole) the night before, i woke up with my underwear soaked with a clear discharge. should i be alarmed?

Other infection?: It could just be the yeast cream liquifying and coming out. However, it's also possible you have something other than yeast. The main yeast symptom is itching and irritation, not discharge. If you have unexplained vaginal discharge, other infections (especially STDs) are likely. If any doubt at all, see a doctor or clinic ASAP. Good luck!

i used monistat 1 ovule. now have a redish pink tissue like discharge with the cream. wondering if i can i use a duesche to clear the discharge faster?

Don't douche!: You probably have something other than yeast; or you yeast plus something else. Yeast causes little vaginal discharge, white and thick, not colored. Discharge like yours suggests another infection, like an STD (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas). Vaginal douching always is unhealthy and especially dangerous in presence of STD or other infection (flushes infection into uterus and tubes).

Gyn: If monostat has failed it is time for you to get a pelvic exam and have cultures obtained. Consider gardnerella or trichomonas as possibilities. These are best diagnosed by exam and you may need antibiotics.

BV: Most likely you have an abnormal growth of vaginal bacteria (bacterial vaginosis or BV). This can lead to the odor, itching, and discomfort. You were correct to try an anti-fungal cream but since you have persistent symptoms or possibly a different (or additional) diagnosis, now is a good time to schedule a visit with your Doc. A quick exam, a look under the microscope, easy treatment. Good luck.

i had a yeast infection about 5 days ago and i took monistat 3 and the symptoms went away but now i have a clear, white discharge.  is this normal?

Incompletely treated: In all likelihood, the yeast infection is not entirely cleared.  Assuming that the whitish discharge is not the Monistat itself, i would have you consider treating another 3 days.  If the discharge is still present, then go in to your doctor for a culture to confirm that something else is not going on!

Yes: OTC meds for yeast are very safe and there is no harm in trying another course of Monistat or trying a different OTC med. There are also many home remedies that may help:

Monistat: It might but it would not be wise.
Please contact your family doctor and expelling your concerns.
If the doctor says Monistat is OK take the advice.
If the doctor wants you to see her/him soon please do so.

No: Monistat is a very sticky substance and is absorbed quickly. You might be able to get a little bit out but the majority will stay on the walls. Just give it a little time and it will be absorbed. If you continue with discharge it may be that the Monistat is not working and you need to see your doctor.

Should improve: If discharge is not improving, the diagnosis may be some thing else bv? If bacterial vaginosis (bv) may have fishy smell.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes definitely normal to have increased discharge when using vaginal preparations such as the one you describe. Typically will diminish significantly after you stop the medication.
