my chest hurts and feels congested. i take my proair every hour, as well as my nebulizer. i can cough all the mucus out, which i believe is the cause.

STOP!!!: You need to go to the emergency room or call your doctor.Very dangerous to take your proair every hour with your nebulizer (hopefully it is not a bronchodilator) .If it is, you are overdosing yourself and making yourself sicker.If you are that tight you need steroids to help decrease the swelling in your lungs.Good that you are coughing up the mucus but using proair every  hour is a no no!

good morning dr my baby is a year old she has mucous which ends up on her chest. the pharmacist recommended kuraflo which i can use in a nebulizer my question is how safe is it to use a nebulizer and how often can i use it?

Hard to say: The product itself is safe &amp; can be used as needed. I am reluctant to recommend its use in any kid without the supervision of her physician. The nebulizer system can introduce germs/mold/etc into the chest if not properly cleaned/used. The kid may have a treatable condition whose care is delayed when you try to self diagnose and treat.

is there any fruit or food that can reduce production of mucus in lungs or any food which helps to remove mucus from lung?

Food not a factor: Foods are not a factor in production of mucus in the lungs nor do foods help in removing it. Steam inhalation may help loosen the mucus and make it easier to come out.

mucus becomes obstructed in my throat in between lungs and throat and can't clear it, what should i do to remove my discomfort, please help?

Warm.: Sometime warm shower or warm drinks can help to thin the mucus and dissolve it. If not, you may consider Mucinex (guaifenesin) (over the counter).

Mgt: Most such illnesses are caused by a virus. Sometimes there can be a prolonged illness, and if you are still coughing after three weeks, or if you have any problems breathing, I would advise a follow up with your doctor.
In the meantime, drink clear fluids, monitor your temperature, keep nasal passages clear with saline solution, and rest. A yearly flu vaccination is also suggested, per your doctor

Yes: See your primary care physician to determine if treatment requires antibiotic regimen.    They may do  a chest x ray.  I you are having shortness of breath or fever to the point you it's slowing you from normal function levels would recommend you go to urgent care to speed up treatment. You want to avoid a full bronchitis or pneumonia.  In all this breathing treatments are available. Take care.

Chest percussion : Sometimes the chest congestion you heard is actually a sound transmits from the upper airway, i.e. Nose or throat. If your baby really has chest congestion, he/she may breathe a lot faster than normal, nasal flaring, chest retraction and even with some wheezing sound. If  your baby is breathing with the above symptoms, please bring to the doctor.

: Coughing  of " thick green sticky mucus" is more indicative of Bacterial/other Infections instead of simple Viral URI. Best to see PCP or Urgent Care Clinic for Proper Diagnosis and Antibiotic treatment. The sooner, the better.

Fluids: You need to drink enough fluids and stay well hydrated to mobilize the mucous and thin it out.  Drink more fluids along with the mucinex (guaifenesin).  See a physician if the mucous is discolored, green or bloody.

Good news: The majority of upper respiratory infections end up with productive cough that helps clearing the infection and may last for few days. Stay well hydrated, drink hot tea to loosen secretions. You seem to be on the right path to recovery.
