Female circumcision: Is banned in all civilized countries, not just africa.It is "criminal mutilation". Male circumcision is an accepted religious rite for jews and muslims. It prevents cancer of the penis. Cures phimosis. Reduces risk of utis in baby boys. A treatment for premature ejaculations. Circumcised fathers often want their sons to look like them. Many anti-circumcision arguments are valid.Is personal freedom.

Not usually: The only reason to get circumcised is if you are having infections of the foreskin or if the foreskin will not retract. This often happen in men with diabetes.

Not at all: There are minimal risks of anesthesia. Only very minor risk of bleeding, as all bleeding vessels should be cauterized before skin is closed. Risk of infection is  negligible as penis has such a superb blood supply. Medication such as Ativan, (lorazepam) can be taken to minimize post-operative erections &amp; pain medications will be prescribed. Thus, go for it, if you need it. Good luck

No: Although this has been practiced in some cultures it falls well into the definition of genital mutilation for no apparent reason. Differing from male circumcision that has some health benefits, female circumcision is promoted as removing temptation of promiscuity. It is condemned by societies around the world.

3-5 days: Assuming normal male, no infections or complications, you can expect soreness post procedure to last 1-3 days. Depending in your work demands, 3-5days are reasonable. If you did this on Friday morning, you might return to work in Monday with minimal time off work

Depends on variables: I remember it being the most requested elective surgery among young sailors  during my tour in the service. It should be viewed as a significant surgery, with anesthesia risks and a significant recovery period. If the patient has investigated the risks and benefits and chooses to proceed, the decision is his to make.

Unnecessary Surgery: Many factors involved in this controversial decision...The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that it should be offered, but does not say that circumcision is necessarily recommended. In areas with high rates of sexually transmitted disease, it can prevent infection rates and decrease the risk of UTI, but the jury is out w/ respect to sexual function so it's up to the parents.
