No: Although this has been practiced in some cultures it falls well into the definition of genital mutilation for no apparent reason. Differing from male circumcision that has some health benefits, female circumcision is promoted as removing temptation of promiscuity. It is condemned by societies around the world.

Absolutely not: All the major medical organizations around the world have condemned this practice. It's called "female genital mutilation" and i think every member of healthtap will agree it should not be performed. If you under "cultural" or "spiritual" pressure to have it done to someone you care about, please resist it. In most of the world, performing it will get you sent to prison.
