can asd closure be carried out together with a circ?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no: Although tecnically possible, i would not recommend any type of surgery with a risk of infection with cardiac surgery or intervention, especially if a forein material like an ASD device or patch is used. I would recommend to have them done seperately with a 6 months interval.

7 year olds penis still retracts into fat pad. he is circ'd. normal penis when pushing on fat pad. pedi say all is normal. will he grow out of this?

How fat?: It all depends on how fat he is and what you are going to do to help him overcome his childhood obesity.  We do know that a seven year old boy's penis is naturally very small and will not change until he enters puberty. The only thing you can do now is to aggressively change the family diet and get this child to be much more active so that abdominal fat is not his problem when he enters puberty.

Not Messed Up!: The cause of pearly penile papules (ppp) remains unknown. It is reported to occur in 8-48% of men. It is not related to having a circumcision. In fact, ppp are observed more frequently in uncircumcised men. Interestingly, in uncircumcised men with ppp who under go circumcision later in life, regression of the papules is commonly seen. my son did not get pain relief for circ 20 years ago. was i a bad mom?

Usually did not: I think most of the time children received little if any pain relief except for tylenol (acetaminophen) at that time. It was certainly uncommon to receive a numbing agent at the time of circumcision.  I doubt your child holds a grudge and it is probably not a big issue.

my son is circ amd the doc. messed up and now the skin tried to reattach.what van i do to avoid another procedure?  hes 10 months currently

Circ. Adhesions: What your son has is a fairly common complication of circumcision, especially if he's a chubby little dude where his penis tended to get pulled back in. Sometimes the use of topical steroids can break down the adhesions along with daily gentle retraction and pulling of the adhesions. Talk to your pediatrician about trying the topical steroids. Not much downside to using for a few weeks ,might help

Yes: If the measurements you listed are accurate, you have a kid whose length is far below the 3rd percentile for a 3 mo &amp; a head circumference at the 98% for a 9mo. This may be fine for various forms of little people but the measurements don't add up to anything expected. Rapidly increasing head size deserves a study of what is inside. Ultrasound may work at this age.

Yes: If the measurements you listed are accurate, you have a kid whose length is 85 % /weight  95% &amp; head size &gt;98% for age. By themselves, the measurements are not too unusual. However if the HC has crossed growth lines by this amount in 2 months a study of the skull contents is warranted. Ultrasound through the soft spot or a CT would help separate the problems from a simple large head.

FORESKIN : It it is in a child and the skin is simply sticking back to the head it will likely resolve with further protrusion from the pubic bone with time and growth.

Accepted Answer

If a girl, head cir-: cumference was 60th%ile at brth and 95th%ile at 2 mos. 0 days. If a boy, 50th%ile at birth; 60th%ile at 2 mos. 0 days. Have the same person in the pediatrician's office measure with the same head circumference tape the same way every month x 3 to determine accelerated vs. normal  velocity of growth. Use developmental screens on firstsigns.org. See pediatrician sooner if concerned.

after circumcision is it better to have more inner or outer foreskin? is inner foreskin above scarline? should frenulum remain after circ?

Accepted Answer

CIRCUMCISION: Some of the frenulum remains and every doctor leaves a different amount of prepuce behind the glans.
