Do not think so: The preg test is something completely different.  It looks for HCG - human chorionic gonadotrophin.

Too early: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative re do the test in 4-5 days, unless you get a period before then. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.

Some thoughts...: Home or clinic urine pregnancy tests are very accurate. A correctly done home urine test will give a reliable result by 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after possible conception) or 1 week after missing a period. A woman can repeat the test if she did the first test too early, such as less than two weeks after conception. Tests stay positive in pregnancy and DO NOT turn negative until after delivery.

Precautions: The radiology place I am sure would have taken the precaution of finding if you were pregnant before doing the scan and should have used a reliable test. And yes, if you were pregnant, as long as the area of interest shows the pregnancy they should be able to see it and give you advise…but then again, it should not happen.

Not very far: Usually within a week after fertilization enough pregnancy hormone is produced to cause + results on a home test.  Blood tests can show even sooner.

Yes.: As you know, the risk of down's increases in your age group to approximately 1 in 10. There are multiple screening tests available.  These are offered during all pregnancies and are typically done with plenty of lead time for you to make an informed decision about your pregnancy.

Still pos preg test: your hormone level of pregnancy ( beta-HcG) does not go to zero immediately after surgery.  It gradually steps down making a test persistently positive.  It is never a bad idea to check a final level at your final check up.
