Any: You can take any available pain reliever.  If you are asking about over the counter medication i would start with tylenol (acetaminophen).

NSAID's: Non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like Aspirin can be used for menstrual pain (as long as you are not allergic). Narcotics would not be a good choice for this.

Consult your surgeon: tell hin/her about the ASA intake. You will most likely have to stop @ least 10 days before surgery usually,  &amp; the surgeon will tell you his/her policy. Some surgeons as well as myself are not worried about continuing to take it up to the day of surgery.

Aspirin: You can take up to 8-10 baby Aspirin tablets which is the approximate dose for two adult aspirins every 4-6 hours.

what pain reliever is safe to use with diabetic retinopathy? i know aspirin can increase bleeding risk, so i assume it wouldn't be safe for someone with diabetic retinopathy. are other nsaid's ok?

Diabetic : Diabetic retinopathy comes in many forms.  In general, I do not advise stopping of nsaids or Aspirin in patients with diabetic retinopathy (some of these patients have underlying cardiac disease - an Aspirin daily is beneficial in these patients for systemic health).  If someone has proliferative diabetic retinopathy, use of nsaids or Aspirin could theoretically increase the size of a bleed should it occur.  Someone with proliferative diabetic retinopathy should be followed closely and treatment by laser can preserve vision in these patients.

NO: Nothing containing aspirin should be given to a child unless prescribed by a cardiologist because of a heart condition or a rheumatologist for autoimmune disorders. Under no other circumstances should anything with aspirin be given.

good day, im covid + diagnosed 30nov, however my temperature will not decrease and im due at work on friday 11dec. is this normal? or can i get specific medication to assist. have been on viral choice, lictagon effervescents and aspirin.

Still infectious: Covid infection can last longer than 14 days. CDC Guidelines for returning to work after Covid Infection are as follows: minimum of 14 days since onset of symptoms and Fever free for 48 hours without fever reducers and other symptoms are improving. You will not be cleared to return to work until all 3 of these criteria are met, as you can still infect others. Your fever means you are still sick.

Complications: Back in the late 60's & early 70's a devistating illness called reye's syndrome started appearing.Kids with chickenpox or flu would appear to get better before lapsing into coma & dying of liver failure. After a link with salycilates(aspirin) was made, we stopped giving it to kids under 16. Reye's has almost disappeared.It didn't happen to all kids, but we never knew how to predict who would.

No: There is a condition called reye syndrome that has been associated with the use of Aspirin by children when treating a viral illness. This syndrome affect the brain and liver and is fatal 20% of the time. It is very rare now as Aspirin use in children has decreased.

No: Topamax (topiramate) is a newer anticonvulsant medication that blocks voltage-gated sodium ion channels. It is also used in migraine prevention treatment. Ask your doctor for more information.
