Bronchitis on x-ray: bronchitis is an unreliable diagnosis by x-ray and is really a clinical diagnosis based on presence of a cough in the absence of pneumonia. There are many things that can cause chest pain.

Difficulty breathing: People describe difficulty breathing differently and it should be evaluated in person  It's concerning when you walk a short distance or do short term exercise and you feel short of breath you need to see a doctor right away. Some people report  Difficulty breathing as be a pain in breathing and chest pain makes this concerning. I am not sure if you need to go to the emergency room now.

Inflammation: The tissues lining the bronchi (tubes leading from the trachea into the lung in smaller and smaller radicals) are grossly inflamed by the infection, or if caused by toxic materials by them, and pain is one of the cardinal signs of inflammation. When you cough you place pressure on inflamed tissues and therefore ......................... OK?

Treatment?: What did your x-ray show?  What were you treated with?  Do you have a history of asthma or other respiratory disease?
What else have you tried - over the counter meds, humidification, etc.
Depending on how you were treated, this could be another infection, or a recurrence of the old infection.  I would go see your doctor, as it sounds like you are very concerned.  Good luck!

Smoking: Don't!  this is a common cause of persistence of bronchitis because it interferes with several of the immune mechanisms the tracheobronchial tree uses to prevent or minimize infection. To say nothing of all the other problems cigarettes cause.
