Lymphadenopathy: This depends upon where the nodes are located. If they are superficial, in the axillae or the supraclavicular area they are easily palpated, but nodes in the mediastinum must be detected using imaging studies.

Multiple: There are multiple lymph node stations in the chest. In general enlargement is considered in nodes greater than 15-20mm in size. Reasons for enlargement are too numerous to list but include infection,inflammatory conditions,many types of cancer and other more obscure diagnosis. Usually found on imaging like CT, then need tissue diagnosis if no obvious reason for enlargement

Needs follow up: It may or not be a reason for concern, but needs follow up by your doctor. Lymph nodes enlarge to help us fight off infection. A persistent lymph node larger than one cm probably needs a biopsy or at least close follow up.

Question? Diagnosis?: Not sure of your question, but I surmise you want a diagnosis (you want to know what this IS). Without symptoms &amp; physical exam (pictures), it is impossible to know. Even knowing symptoms &amp; appearance, sometimes the ultrasound is not definitive enough to give a diagnosis. See a surgeon for a biopsy; this may be a lipoma (benign fatty growth) or a lymphoma (benign or malignant, both types exist).

Document change: The likely reason for the follow up exam is to determine if the lymph nodes are stable or resolve. In addition, the ct can also confirm that the pneumonia that you had also resolves. If the pneumonia or lymph nodes you hard resolve, no further follow up will be necessary. If they are stable, they may need to be followed. If they increase in size, a biopsy might be needed to determine their cause.
