i have back pain that feels like a charlie horse with almost any movement at all it just locks up it's in my lower right side as well. what can stop?

Acute back strain : Ice followed by massage with lubricant or any balm, followed by gentle back stretches to be done as often as possible every hour for 10 minutes until pain goes away. Avoid soft couch, weight lifting. Take Ibuprofen if not contraindicated. Sooner you break the spasm from time it occurred faster you get better. Don't be afraid, massage is painful  use but very helpful to break spasm.

can charley horse happen in front of leg instead of calf? got spasm in front lower leg from below knee to foot. very painful like the usual spasm but this was in front of leg instead of back calf. not sure what caused?

: When you exceed the endurance capabilities of a muscle, it locks up in order to protect itself from tearing. (otherwise, continued use would cause the tear.) this type of spasm or cramp is known as a charlie horse. They can occur in any muscle that you exceed that muscle's endurance limit.

i just coughed and it feels like a have a charlie horse in my back . i can't move at all and when i eat the pain worsens its on my left upper side ?

See your doctor: You should see your doctor-the 'charlie horse' could be a sign of pneumonia or  costochondritis.  If you  have any shortness of breath-go immediately.

Muscle spasm: Yawning is causing some stretch or spasm of your neck muscles. Try to squeeze your neck muscles with one hand when you feel yawning and let's see if that helps.

Try ice/cold paks: If there are no neurological symptoms like weakness or numbness, this is likely muscle spasm.  If it would not interfere with your other medications and you have no allergy, you could try an over the counter antiinflammatory like ibuprofen/motrin/advil/alleve and cold paks.  If it fails to improve over 24 hours or you develop weakness/numbness, you should see an orthopedic surgeon.

muscle spasms: The most common reason for this complaint is muscle spasms of the intercostal muscles between the ribs, which is most frequently due to nerve irritation.  This is best treated with anti-inflammatories such as Naproxen to decrease the inflammation of both the nerve and the muscle.

Shoulder blade pain: It is tough to know exactly what this is. Sometimes a pinched nerve in the neck can refer to the area between the shoulder blades. A charlie horse type feeling can also be muscle spasm in the muscles between the shoulder blade. It should resolve. If it does not, i recommend that you see your doctor.

Why do you: Get the Charlie horse? Is it sleeping positions that you could try differently? Are you over using the arm in the day? Are you dehydrated and need to drink more water?  Do you need more potassium ? Try a supplement from the store. If none of that works get an evaluation from your doc
