: Cramping, especially the calf, is common. Med for high cholesterol, some blood pressure medications or low volume may trigger cramping.
Magnesium supplement, 200 mg at bedtime, may be helpful.
Tricks to relieve cramp: get out of the bed if you can, standing up, raise the opposite arm up as far as possible or walking backward if you are able to or press hard the point between nose and upper lip.

: You performed all the correct measures trying to provide comfort foul your mother. Now prevention is the next step.  Daily hydration with proper electrolytes  is now required. Sport drinks are helpful.  Stretching the muscles will help

Supplements: Calf muscle cramps are usually caused by an imbalance in Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphate levels in the body. During pregnancy this can be worsened. First, take a home pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. If negative, then taking a supplement containing Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphate daily will help alleviate the cramps.

Muscle: A charley horse is a muscle usually which if sudden and cramping is present. While sciatica flairs it usually is constant with classic burning quality from the buttock down the back of leg to heel. The hamstring muscle will give you cramping.

A pop suggests: Some type of injury, although that is not always certain. Are you able to move your foot up and down without pain? The most worrisome thing in the area is the achilles tendon, and if this ruptured you would not be able to walk very well. Could yesterdays charlie horse have been a calf strain? You may have had a strain that turned into a small tear if active. See your doc, too many variables.

Drink water: If it doesn't go away with hydration or there is swelling or injury to that legs he needs to be seen by a doctor today as this could be a sign of a serious condition called a dvt.
