can a c-section incision open up after 3months? never had any infections just started walking / running and i see it pink sometimes & stings but dry

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: A significant amount of healing occurs within 3 months after a C-section. As long as there were no complications after surgery and you had an otherwise normal recovery, you should be ok. The stinging and pink coloration can occur for several more months. If you continue to have concerns, have your doctor evaluate to make sure everything is still ok.

i'm almost 6wks pp from a c-section & above the incision is red and swollen but not painful. feels tender like a bruise. is it an infection?

Couldn't say: This is definitely something you should see your ob/gyn doctor for, he/she can tell wether an infection is present or if it is part of the healing process. If not happy with their answer, or keeps getting worse, seek a plastic surgeon.

my sister got infection on her incision site after c-section amd dr prescribed her augmentin. is it contagious to her child or husband or others?

Not likely: Wound (surgical) infections are localized germs. They do not get into the saliva or mucous where a cough or touching something could spread them to others.

i had a cesarean section a week ago today. i was released from hospital 4 days ago and have had fever of 101 or higher and chills every night since being released. is this normal or should i go back to hospital? incision looks fine, no signs of infection.

NO NOT NORMAL !!!: Call your OB right now, your OB will tell you what to do, if your OB doesn't call back then go to the er and they will check you and get ahold of your ob, you may have an infection of the uterus called endometritis or an infection somewhere else, you need diagnosis and treatment right away tonight !

my c-section incision was infected, and i was told there is now a yeast infection can that cause my baby to be spitting up a lot and very gassy?

No: Your C-section and yeast infection came after your baby passed through the birth canal.  His/her symptoms are probably normal but you should take him/her to the pediatrician.

I'm so sorry. It's: Great that you're continuing to breastfeed. If the yeast is on your nipples &/or in baby's mouth, please talk to your pediatrician & OB for treatment for both of you. It can be hard to get rid of. Also, call the birth hospital's nursery for the name of a lactation consultant who can help you. Gas & spitting up may not be related, but it seems both of you are uncomfortable. You're a trooper!

i was told that i have endometriosis on my incision where i had a cesarean section. how is this possible?

Scar endo: This is much more common phenomenon than you think. Because at the time of cesarean section the uterus is opened and the endometrium could be in contact with the fat at the incision site, the tissue can implant creating endometriosis at the scar. The symptoms are cyclic pain and swealling somewhere in the scar that subside after menses. The treatment is scar removal surgically.

had a cesarean section two weeks ago. a week ago i had staples removed. my incision area is sort of lumpy and hard, actual cut is healed. do i worry?

No: Give it time to heal and remodel. It will take about three months for most the healing process to work its way through.

Yes no: A small clear crust is expected. Clean wound 2-4 times a day to remove dried up crust (a potential nidus for infection). If drain is pus (thick or creamy ) or redness around scar is expanding and with pain, then is not normal.

is it normal for a c-section incision to bleed?

Accepted Answer

Yes/no: Its normal to have a small amount of bleeding in the first 24 hours.  After this, the skin seals over and there shouldn't be any bleeding.  If you have a bloody discharge from the incision, you need to see your surgeon to make sure there is no infection or seroma present.  Best wishes!
