Oh yes!: In fact, i've seen a cervix go from about 20% to 100% effaced in less than 30 minutes!  they have minds of their own.  Much depends on how the baby's head is presenting to it.  Good luck!

Nope: Tilted uterus is normal. 30 percent tip backward,  70 percent tip forward. No effect of effacing or dilating. If tipped back, you might have more back pain.

Where are you?: If you are not in a delivery suite you should be, and the decision of whether and how frequently to check for cervical dilation and effacement should be left to your ob/gyn doctors.  Since this was sent 24 hrs ago, suspect you have already delivered.

Who knows?: Labor initiation will depend upon your previous number of deliveries, and when Mother Nature decides to start the process.  An older OB MD when I trained in OB GYN was most accurate in his old adage, that "If the apple is ripe, it will fall off the tree". We only "pluck apples"(induce labor) when you are post dates or there is a known medical problem with you or the baby.

Can't say for sure: Certainly what you describe is a worrisome picture given you are dilated, have no measurable cervical length, and you are only 30 weeks. The magnesium you were given was likely for neuro protection -- indicating your OB has been equally concerned about you delivering early.  That said, no one knows how soon you will in fact deliver. I am certain every attempt will be made to prolong the pregnancy.

Maybe: Progressive labor(induced or otherwise) is the "gold standare test" to see vaginal or cesarean delivery is "money".

OK: Steroid shots at 34 weeks is not universally practiced, but your OB is suggesting this, then no issues

Braxton Hicks: Braxton hicks contractions do not dilate or efface. They are usually to irregular or disorganized. If you think you may be in labor, however, contact your physician.

is emergent mcdonald 3 stitches as successful as elective if cervix is not dilated or effaced at all,just 21mm funnel and cl 23mm.no bulging membranes?

No: What's different about the situation you describe is that there has been cervical shortening, which, in and of itself, increases your risk for preterm delivery.  Your cervix is still pretty long, though, at 23mm.  Likely the stitch will be successful at helping to prevent preterm birth.  It's good, as well, that no bulging membranes.
