May need ultrasound: Why was the ct scan done? Are you having pain? Were there any abnormalities on your uterus? (fibroids maybe?) have you had any surgeries like c section? A thick cervix probably doesn't mean a lot on its own. But you may need an ultrasound depending what the ct showed.

Labor: Yes, you need to go to the hospital if you have a gush or leakage of fluid. Also go to the hospital with any bleeding, strong contractions that are 5-6 mon apart and last for an hour or if you don't feel baby move.

Possible pregnancy: cerical softening and discoloration can be associated with pregnancy; however the definitive tests are a blood HCG and transvaginal ultrasound. Keep a menstrual calendar.

Can't really tell: Pregnancy is always a possibility in a woman in her fertile years. Simple urine pregnancy tests are available at drugstores (a woman can do the test after missing a period or 3 weeks after sex). A woman can also go to a primary care doctor or an ob-gyn doctor for testing. If pregnant, the woman needs to set up routine appointments with the doctor that will be providing her prenatal care.

How many weeks?: Unfortunately, I don't know how many weeks gestation you are, this definitely changes how we will consider your contractions!   IF you are at term, 37 plus weeks, AND this is a healthy pregnancy,  AND your physician has said let's watch you at home, AND your water is intact,  AND you are feeling adequate movement of the baby, hang in there!  Call your OB for concerns!

Perhaps: Only if it continues to enlarge, then yes, probably.  If prior vaginal delivery, then might be normal. No harm in OB check if any cramping/belly/back pain.

Beginning size : When you say you are 1 cm remember thats the beginning size of your cervix.  Is this your first pregancy.  If so, really try to relax and continue to be positive.  Stress is the enemy for so many of us so focus on wednesday.  Your doctors will continue to evaluate you as to why the baby has not dropped.  Share your concerns with them and bring a family member to help remember.

Ultrasound results?: If this report were for a pelvic ultrasound, it could mean several things.  It would also be interpreted in the context of what symptoms are occurring (irregular bleeding, pain, ?).  The endometrial lining varies in thickness during the menstrual cycle, and is typically thickest right before a menstrual period (day 25).  A closed cervix is a normal finding.

Try timing the back and side pain and see if they are regular, and the amt of time between.

If the pain increases, and the pains become regular then call your OB and inform them.
