i am a virgin and have not had sex or semen contact. i checked cervical position and mucus around ovulation with hand that wasnt washed. it was dry and had no visible particles. can touching a cervix without washing hands first lead to pregnancy?

Ovulation detection: The position of the cervix is not related to ovulation. You can detect ovulation in several ways: basal body temperature charting, urinary ovulation predictor kits, and, with your physician, by doing hormone tests or ultrasounds.

Definitly not: Cervical position is almost completely unreliable. Unless you are actively in labor there is no reason to check your own cervix as it will not help you. Try a home ovulation kit if you are trying to conceive.

Ovulation kit : If you want to know if you are ovulating simply buy an over the counter ovulaton kit available at any pharmacy. Technology has evolved where you no longer have to guess or use notoriously unreliable methods like bbt.

No: Ovulation while on the pill is not as uncommon as we once thought and does not significantly  decrease the effectiveness of the pill. For the longest time we did not know joe often this occurred because it did not have any obvious signs.

Non-specific: Checking cervical position is not at all reliable as a measure of ovulation, please don't be troubled by this. In fact of all the natural ways of trying to detect ovulation, this is the least useful.

i have a very regular 28 day cycle.i have tried more than a year to conceive, i recently went to my gp for blood work. done on day 22 of my cycle, it showed i was ovulating on day 22. yet my cervical position is low and hard. what could be the issue?

Fertility ?'s: At over "one year" of unprotected intercourse w/o conception, it is appropriate to obtain a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to determine if your Fallopian tubes are open, which can also clear the tubes of minor obstruction.  Prior to scheduling this kind of test, your physican may suggest a semen analysis by a urologist.  Ovulation at age 34 is frequently delayed for a number of reasons.

Getting Pregnant: Based on your questions, it looks like you ; your partner want a family.  Monitor the timing of your periods. In general, ovulation occurs mid-cycle, about 7-10 days after the end of your period. When you ovulate, you may feel a little pain on either side. Your mucus is clear and very stretchy.  The test line on the ovulation kit becomes darker than the control line.  Enjoy sex, be patient.

It doesn't: You cannot reliably tell ovulation at all by trying to examine your own cervix, please don't do it (you'll just cause bleeding.) OPK are much more reliable.

Doesn't matter: Your cervical position is subjective and unreliable. It is not clinically useful and is not something one needs to pay attention to unless you are in active labor. Health conclusions can not be made by examining the cervix. Home ovulation tests are available at the pharmacy if you are concerned about ovulation
