Depends on the pain: If over the counter medications, such as tylenol (acetaminophen) motri (ibuprofen) provide relief, it is okay to take these.  If pain is not relieved by these, she should consult her doctor for more potent pain killers, such as opioids.  Patients with cancer often suffer needlessly for fear for addiction.

What : What is the diagnosis that was told to you by all the doctors you have seen? What medication was prescribed? 
Vaginal "secretion" or discharge is typically not a sign of cervical cancer. A pap smear detects cervical changes including cancer, so if you have not had one this year, i recommend you get one. 
Back to the discharge. Have you been tested for std's? Vaginal cultures done? Please reply with the answers to my questions and a description of the discharge and any associated symptoms (odor, irritation, itching).

Treatment or screen?: Cervical cancer can be screened for or prevented by using Pap smears and HPV testing. There is also a vaccine. If you have been diagnosed with it, the treatment depends on how large it is or if it has spread. This may include surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy. An opinion with a gynecologic oncologist is best. If it is cervical PRE-cancer, then treatments may be more limited and less invasive.

Tobacco: Tobacco use can increase the risk of cervical cancer. Otherwise usual food stuffs do not affect the risk for cervical cancer.

Accepted Answer

Not likely.: It should not have an effect on the unborn child, or a newborn child, but if it was not removed before pregnancy, it can grow, and affect the mother due to the time allowed to spread.  If it is localized, removed, and a pregnancy occurs before the cevical epithelium grows back, the cervix might be incompetant, resulting in a possible loss of the fetus.  Best to be treated before pregnancy.

Positive: I am optimistic about this. I plan to have my kids vaccinated.  I think the data is there and why not try and reduce the risk?

HPV : Most cervical cancer is caused by a virus called human papillomavirus, or hpv. You can get hpv by having sexual contact with someone who has it.

Depends: Early stage - very curable. My opinion: definitely need to vaccinate boys & girls vs hpv early. Stage 0 thru iii curable with surgery and/or radiation & chemo.
