If this is the type of cell phone you have, they suggested putting it in some type of plastic carrying case to reduce exposure to the nickel and see if that helps. New technology, new problems!

And, I am unclear as to what you mean by "addiction." the word addiction would refer to problems caused by overdoing certain behaviors, like drinking, taking drugs, eating too much, etc. If a person has tried to decrease such behaviors and is unsuccessful, he or she should seek help from a professional.

Well, mostly you: Can't.  People have to recognize that they have a problem and decide to deal with it.  Family members can help sometimes, but often are confronted with anger, resentment and denial.  Members of her immediate family may be in a better position to help, and may need to stage an intervention if her cell phone use has truly started to interfere with her life. A mental health agency should be contacted.

Seek mental health: Counseling. Many people, but usually younger ones, develop very compulsive cellphone use, either just texting others, or accessing internet for various reasons - porno, gambling, games or chatrooms. It is more a compulsive behavior than it is an addiction, and mental health professionals can evaluate you for underlying problems and develop a treatment plan for you. Start with your pcp.
