i had rocephin (ceftriaxone) injected into buttocks area yesterday. i have 2 lumps that are painful. is the medication stuck? i'm supposed to take keflex now!

Swelling..: After this type of injection you may get swelling under the skin but does not mean the medication stays there, the body absorbs the medication. Try icing the area and if you develop a rash or the swelling gets worse follow up with your doctor.

Transport is unclear: The transport of drugs into the CNS after IV administration is
very complex and not fully understood. The blood brain barrier, 
which has a protective function, is difficult to cross. So the answer to the question is unknown. A good discussion of this subject

UTI: Rocephin (ceftriaxone) - Ceftriaxone - is a parenteral antibiotic, only can be given IV or IM.  Most simple UTIs need only an oral antibiotic, and 3 days is often enough.  Usually, there would be no indication for a parenteral antibiotic unless you have a complicated and/or resistant infection.  In that case, you may need a longer course of treatment, too.

That is quite a: Bit of treatment for a uti. If symptoms have persisted need further work up and potential urologic evaluation rather than "shotgun" antibiotics.

Not absorbed: The chemical is not readily absorbable from the gut so it can only be injected.  Several close cousins are available in oral formulations though.

Yogurt: Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic.  There is absolutely no problem eating yogurt while on this antibiotic.  Just know that the live cultures in the antibiotic, the 'good bacteria' get killed off by the antibiotic just as do the infection causing bacteria.  However, if you like yogurt there is no reason you cannot eat it while of the medicine.
