Cefixime: Cefixime (suprax) is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and ear, lung, throat, and urinary tract infections. Azithromycin (zithromax) can be used for strep throat, but there have been several reports in the medical literature of the development of resistance to this antibiotic.

i have taken about 5 packs of cefixime 400mg 2 daily for gonorrhea. isn't that too much do i need any kind of blood supplement should i stop the drug?

?: Depends on how many days the totoal treatment was prescribed; in any event you should get retested to check to see if you were cured; no supplement is indicated.

i took chlamydia meds, seems the drug didn't work i had 2 suprax cefixime 400 mg and 4 sandoz-- azithromycin 250mg . does it make sense to take the same meds again if it didn't work before?

Gonorrhea shot: I am sorry to report but you may have been given the wrong treatment.  You took the right drug for chlamydia, but the wrong drug for gonorrhea.  There is a drug resistant gonorrhea that has swept  the western world making all pills ineffective for treating this. Most public health and other std experts always treat for both  gc and chlamydia.

Suprax (cefixime): If you are taking suprax (cefixime) for gonorrhea, a single dose of 400 mgm is enough to treat gonorrhea.

Depends: That depends entirely on what you're treating. Amoxicillin is a very strong antibiotic against bacteria that are susceptible to it.

: Several antibiotics work well against gonorrhea in single doses, nothing unusual about cefixime. Treatment of choice is ceftriaxone by injection but oral cefixime works well. As it happens, I was the lead investigator on the original research showing the effectiveness of cefixime for gonorrhea. Hard to say: We usually do that study before, not after any antibiotic treatment.You might continue to shead dead germs after treatment and the tests rely on the germ proteins that can persist for a while after death but not always.We also don't know what you were tested for and how. You may still have a STD if they did not test for it specifically, but many of those cannot be cured anyway.

i had unprotected oral & protected vaginal sex with a 46 year old woman one week ago.  the same day i took 1g zithromax & 400mg suprax. i have not had any symptoms & its been a week now. should lgv be a realistic concern?  im in america if it helps?

Safe sex: You are almost certainly in good shape. In future always sensible to use protection. You can dispence with protection if and when you are in a long standing relationship and know that you are safe.
