If there is a retained tampon or a lack of proper vaginal hygiene those are potential causes. Yeast is usually odorless but is still a possibility. If a woman has a fistula or cancer that can also lead to odor. See your doctor if uncertain.

BV? Trichomonas?: The two main causes of fishy vaginal odor are bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria; and trichomonas, an STD. Both usually also have increased vaginal discharge:  white/gray with BV, yellow/brown for trich. Other infections also can do it, and both trich and BV are more common in women with other STDs, if at risk. Best to see a doctor and not try to treat yourself.

Indirectly, yes : Bacterial vaginosis, or overgrowth of normally occurring vaginal bacteria, is the most common cause of vaginal odor. Bacterial vaginosis isn't caused by sperm, but it's easy to understand why some women think it could be because the chemical compounds that cause the odor associated with BV are more noticeable at higher ph. Normal vaginal ph 4.0; normal semen ph 7.0 which causes chemicals to smell.

Also due to increased sweat &amp; after sex. Trichomonas, STD can cause malodor &amp; otherwise be symptom free. Retained/forgotton tampon cause severe malodor &amp; immediately resolves after removal. Vaginal douches not recommended &amp; can be harmful
