A general medical evaluation with a primary care doctor is needed to rule out systemic disorders. If no specific findings, then Fibromyalgia becomes a consideration, and a Rheumatologist&#x27;s evaluation might be helpful.

Yes: Often a pinched nerve in the neck or other cause of neck muscle stiffness can cause the "greater occipital nerve" to get irritated and produce sensations of numbness/ tingling/ "ants under the skin" in the region of the back of the scalp, the skin above the ears and even into the forehead.  This is called greater occipital neuralgia and is a side effect of the primary issue.

Unlikely.: All skulls have dents and bulges. In fact, a pseudoscience popular in the 1800s called phrenology claimed to be able to diagnose illnesses from those irregularities. Your indentation has probably been there all along, but if you're worried about it, let your doctor check it out.

Cervical pathology: This seems to be coming from your neck.  There are different possibilities as to what could be causing it but disc bulges compressing nerve and/or facet joint are two poss.  The referred pain noticed on palpation of neck could be nyofascial in nature.

Go to the ER: I would imagine that you have been to the emergency room many times in the past. However, in a situation like this, I would not hesitate to order a CT scan of your head if you presented to my emergency room in order to make sure that you do not have hydrocephalus, which can be life-threatening.

Anything: Headaches can come from fatigue, sleeping too much or too little, eye strain, sleep apnea, snoring, being dehydrated, having chronic sinusitis or allergies, too much caffeine or over the counter headache medication, high blood pressure or something more serious like a tumor. See your doctor and get checked.

Maybe growth hormone: I'm not sure of exactly the skull changes you're referring to.  I can tell you that increased human growth hormone ( possibly related to a small tumor in the pituitary gland called an adenoma), or else taking HGH directly, can result in changes to skull such as enlargement of forehead, jaw and nose.  There are other entities which may cause excessive bone growth  such as paget's disease or others.

Muscle or headache.: Neck strains - from poor posture, whiplash or vigorous exercise can cause muscle strains that you feel at the base of the skull (that's where some neck muscles attach).  Certain types of headaches can do this as well.  I'd try some Ibuprofen or alleve and see if it improves.  If you start having blurry or double vision, nausea, or fevers, i'd see your doctor right away!  cheers!
