Probably not: The virus that causes herpes and the virus that can cause lsil are two different viruses.  A diagnosis of herpes will typically not cause your pap test to be abnormal.

Low risk viral type: Most commercially available hpv dna tests diagnose 12 or 13 strains of 'high risk' hpv.  These are strains most likely to cause cancer.  It is possible to have lsil (hpv changes) in a pap where abnormal cells are present but the viral strain causing the warty changes is not one of the 12 or 13 types in the test kit being used.  Low risk viral types (6 ; 11) cause warts but have negative dna tests.

Yes, but the reason : Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease. Lgsil is caused by hpv, also a sexually transmitted disease. Therefore, if you have one form of std, you could easily have another. After treatment, you should use condoms and barrier methods of contraception to prevent stds--and perhaps talk to potential partners before sex so you don't get another infection. Safe sex!

LSIL: There's often non-specific inflammation in a young woman, and if there's no specific organism and no symptoms, it's not really a reason to worry. I'm much more concerned that you follow up with the LSIL which is the first stage to getting cancer, so that we can be sure it doesn't get out of control. LSIL: Lsil is caused by hpv. But there is no cure for hpv and many times your immune system will clear the virus on its own. Given the likelihood of spontaneous resolution, and the fact that a pathology if lsil is benign, most gynecologists would not intervene.

ayear back and my pap smear report same back as lsil. this year, the repeat pap came back as negative for nilm but inflammatory smear. is the only cause for lsil hpv? could it be cause by inflammation or pcos too? should i be worried ab high risk hpv?

: HPV is the only known cause of LSIL, but usually with low risk types of the virus. Inflammatory changes on Pap sometime are due to other infections (e.g. gonorrhea or chlamydia), but in most cases no cause can be found; PCOS is not a likely cause. With or without inflammatory changes, LSIL usually clears up on its own -- so your situation is normal and expected. No worries about high risk HPV.

i had pap test and colposcopy the last november . i was diagnosed with cin1/lsil and cervical ectopy, high level of leukocytes, large number of cocobacilla and bacterial vaginosis. could you explain does hpv causes cin1? there was no hpv in the pap.

Different tests: PAP does not detect HPV, but detects the effects of it like CIN. You should still get HPV vaccine to prevent infection with other strains of HPV. Follow your doctor's about repeat PAPs and other surveillance.
 HPV does cause CIN and can cause worse.

can hpv cause erratic menstrual cycles? i had a lsil (hpv positive) pap in january. my colposcopy  was negative for dysplasia & benign. i take the same birth control for a few years now.

It : It is unlikely that it is related to hpv.  It may be that you need a different preparation of birth control pills to control your bleeding.  It would be worthwhile to discuss this with your prescriber.  You may need different pills with a different formulation.  Be sure your pap smear is up to date while you are there.

LSIL: Lsil stands for low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. Women with lsil.  Lsil usually indicates mild dysplasia , more than likely caused by a human papillomavirus infection. It is usually diagnosed following a pap smear.  It does not mean you will be infertile.

It is possible: LSIL does not prevent pregnancy. Low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) is a common abnormal result on a Pap test, and is also known as mild dysplasia. A woman with LSIL should follow-up closely with her Ob-Gyn doctor regarding LSIL follow-up, treatment, and future pregnancies. Many women with LSIL have spontaneously cleared their LSIL on follow-up exams.
