Many poss causes: An inferior mi refers to a heart attack on the inferior wall of the heart muscle.  Almost all heart attacks are the result of fatty deposits on the inside of arteries that break open and cause clotting which will blocks the artery (and the blood from flowing to the part of the heart the artery feeds).  Family history, fatty diet, smoking, high blood pressure all contribute to this process.

Family practice : If you have any cardiac risk factors ie smoking hx, hypertension , diabetes, high cholesterol, family hx for heart dz, along with having chest pain it may mean something should be investigated. However you are young and sometimes ekg's read very sensitive results. Static or movements are picked up as abnormal readings. Each ekg needs to be interpretated by a physician. Discuss with your dr.

Wrong diagnosis? : Is 15 yo healthy? Why was he evaluated? Previous cardiac history?  Autoimmune disorder? Kawasaki disease? Sickle cell disease? Diabetes or cancer? If not, then it sounds like an adult cardiologist misread a child's ekg. Often an adolescent's ekg will look like left ventricular hypertrophy because of the strength of the electrical impulse and thinness of the chest wall compared to an adult.

There has been noted to be an increase in heart attacks related to certain infections including those involving the gums, so the cause and effect question has been raised. It has been suggested that inflammation plays a role. But at this time i think most doubt the cause and effect relationship.
