i have 4 cysts on my left ovary and could that be the cause of my heavy extremely painful periods what do u recommend i do?

Depends: Sometimes patients have follicular cysts, these are normal functional cysts of the ovary.  They are typically no more than 2.5 cm in max diameter.  Did your physician say you had a bigger cyst than that? Some cysts are associated with endometriosis which causes extremely painful periods.  Those types of cysts, endometriomas, sometimes need to be removed.  Consult DR for more information

Several causes: There are several possible causes of heavy periods with large blood clots.  Sometimes hormones are off such as lack or diminished progesterone, or thyroid or prolactin being abnormal.  Sometimes the cause is something in the uterus such as a fibroid or a polyp.  Too much soy, or gaining or losing weight can also impact periods.  You will need to work with your doctor to figure this out.

rx aygestin for painful periods. i do not bleed heavy and only for 3 days. will this cause me to bleed more or have breakthrough? i have regular scheduled periods now. why do you start it on day one of period? effect of starting at the end of period?

: Same: Aygestin is progesterone and used for both painful or heavy bleeding periods. The progesterone helps decrease menstrual cramping and therefore the pain. The progesterone level normally drops when you have your period and so by taking it starting the first day of your period, the drop is not as much. However, if you take progesterone later, you may bleed or spot when you stop taking it.

does yaz birth control cause blood clots and death? my doctor prescribed me that birth control because i get really heavy irregular painful periods but i've heard its dangerous and that many women have died and now i'm scared

Safe for most: Any drug has potential side effects that cluster within certain risk groups. I would assume your doctor did a review of your personal &amp; family history, exam and testing before prescribing any medication. These procedures exist to reduce your risk. If the doc found you in the group of normal women at low risk that med would be used. If you have concerns you should discuss them with the doc.

Possible u need: A good workup by a gyn, as it could be caused by many different reasons and no need to suffer, once the gyn knows the cause then u can be treated properly.

Yes: Yes, you can make your periods lighter by finding out from a MD and examination as to why your periods are so heavy and painful. High on the list of culprits is endometriosis that can be either treated or controlled.
