HIV vs Strep: HIV RNA , Rapid antibody test –  would likely not give a positive  for HIV within 5 days of contact.  A culture that is positive for strep means that the bacteria was actually grown out. That means that it was not HIV that was grown. You can be tested separately for HIV.

Not an STD: No STD is a likely cause of symptoms like this. Probably your fever and other symptoms have nothing to do with the sexual exposure you are concerned about. However, they are suspicious for COVID-19. Get tested for coronavirus.

husband sometimes has night sweats in the winter & hot summer where the sheets & blanket are wet. he doesn't get a fever but he also feels cold after sweating. we'll talk to the physician about it soon but what are some causes for this to happen?

Not abnormal: What you described is unlikely to be due to any disease. He may need to reduce the amount of covering while sleeping. You may need different amounts of coverings and need to adjust to your individual needs. Reducing ambient temperature in the room may also help.

Too many covers: Try reducing the covers you use while sleeping. You may also try using a fan to improve circulation of air.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

No other clues?: The main reason would be for a female older than you, menopause. If it is very occasional, perhaps the room is too hot, too many night clothes, bedding? Should not indicate anything worrisome unless other symptoms are happening. Good luck!
