Copd unlikely cause: Lifestyle issues are essential. Optimum weight, no Etoh, and regular exercise reduce AF occurrences and increase by 5 fivefold a favorable response to ablation therapy if needed. BP regulation is essential. See an AF expert and ask whether anticoagulation is essential. You are at fairly low risk of clots/strokes with AF. You may also inquire about a "pill in the pocket" approach to tx.

can copd cause burning, tingling sensations in the upper back lung area? it feels like my upper back and chest is tight and heavy feeling.

Not usually: COPD usually causes shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, and coughing. The sort of symptoms you are describing may be something more significant. I would get checked out by your doctor. He or she can listen to your lungs and maybe get blood tests or a chest xray.

i am 32 years old. i had a chest x ray and it said my lungs were hyperinflated. i have asthma. it is suggesting copd. can asthma cause this?

Yes: Asthma can cause hyperinflated lungs. COPD stands for chronic obstructive airway disease, and asthma meets that definition.

COPD: Not really, there is not direct correlation. However you are more likely to mat (multifocal atrial tachycardia) with lung disease.

Many things: COPD should not cause "focal airspace disease" on any films. Typically when we report "focal airspace disease" it implies, but by no means exclusively, that you have pneumonia. There are nearly countless things that can cause these findings. See your doctor.

i have every symptom of heart failure. pcp dosnt think thats it. 4 years ago when my symptoms started, tons of tests (echo, nuclear stress ,ekg) all results were normal. ct of chest noted possible copd.. no pleural eltusions.. what can cause symptom?

: You seem convinced that your symptoms are due to heart failure. If your symptoms have lasted 4 years or more, both physical findings and the test results would have been more abnormal. Heart failure is uncommon at your age and in 4 years I would expect the symptoms and signs to have been  difficult to miss. Further, echo and nuclear tests would have been diagnostic.

ER evaluations: ERs are designed for 'emergencies' so hopefully they did a good job and made sure that your life is not in critical danger. I think, however, you need to have good follow-up, so I would call your primary MD now and arrange to be seen. If you still have chest pains without a clear diagnosis, you need to know what this is to get treated. A second opinion may be necessary if you are not satisfied.

Probably yes: COPD or Emphysema is just that, loss of lung structures so more air shows on an x-ray and less of anything else.  Time to quit!
