Blood pressure: Combination drugs are used to make therapy easier for the patient. Their effects are often additive both the postives and the negatives. If you're getting good results with the drug for your hypertension and have experienced no downsides, you shouldn't have anxiety. You do need to be followed by your doctor however. Problems can show up late your doctor will be on the lookout.

Heart attack in 2005: Ramipril (&amp; its family, the ACE inhibitors) have been shown to reduce the risk of heart attacks &amp; vascular events (strokes) in pts who have had prior vascular events. Your greatest risk factor for another stroke or future heart attack is the fact that you (claim you) had one in 2005. To reduce future risk, you should take Ramipril &amp; also aspirin, statin (RCA disease), &amp; beta-blocker (an "-olol").

Not necessarily: All ace and arb medications will have some potassium sparing characteristics.  Your likihood of developing hyperkalemia will depend on your state of hydration, other medication, and your renal function.  Check with your doc.

Same class: While they are both in the class of so called ACE-Inhibitors, they still may affect you different and it is not always easy to figure out the dose equivalent since the milligrams for each drug can be different. So I say get some advice regarding the dosages you have available and whether it would work safely for a few days.

Medicines: The 2 medicines you listed are both used for treating high blood pressure. One is an ARB (Angiotensin Receptor Blocker) and the other is an ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme) Inhibitor. Two different mechanisms to control your blood pressure. You may well need both.
