i take clonidine as needed for anxiety. i also take wkly allergy shots. i have to take an epipen (epinephrine) with me to appts. will these two adversly interact?

Seems not.: I looked up the drug interactions for clonidine, and there does not seem to be any significant interactions between the drug and medications that are similar to epinephrine but every person's experience is different so it is good to be mindful.

i have recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure  put on clonidine hydrochloride 0.1 mg .what sinus/allergy meds can i use?

Avoid decongestants: Any drug ending with a -d  will likely raise your blood pressure. Try to avoid it.

i am on oxycodone due to a ruptured cyst. is it safe to take with my night pills(lunesta (eszopiclone) 3mg, clonidine.2mg, along with 2 allergy pills)?side effects?

Sedation: The main risk is sedation.  It is never recommended to take sedating medications together but  be aware of the risks.  I would recommend not taking the oxycodone at the same time if you can help it.  You should discuss these concerns with the doc who rxd the medications.

Potentially: Can cause a significant drop in blood pressure or a drop in heart rate which cam mimic symptoms of  a tia. See your doctor asap.

No: They don't do that!

Clonidine does both: Clonidine can cause both. You also have CHF that can cause swelling. Please do not make any med changes without input from your family doctor or cardiologist. Best wishes to you!

wouldn't it be safer to take the concerta in the am and the clonidine at night?  & how do i work around the next day drowsiness caused by clonidine?

Please speak with: your doctor about your medications and any side effects you may be having. Yes, Concerta is usually taken in the AM and Clonidine at bedtime. However, if this is not the regimen you are on, please discuss with your doctor, especially if you are still drowsy in the AM.

Blood pressure meds: Is Clonidine the only medication you are taking for hypertension?It can rarely cause urinary retention(1% of the time,mainly in Elderlies).It's's not a great med for a young man unless it's added to other meds for resistant(hard to control)Hypertension.The better class options for you as the first line of Rx are: ACE inhibitors(Lisinopril),ARBs(Losartan),Amlodipine,diuretics(HCTZ) to name a few!

what is available to counteract the extreme dryness caused by clonidine (.2mg 3x/day)?

Side effect: Dryness of the mouth is a side effect of Clonidine and reducing the dose may be the only practical way to lessen this side effect.

can clonidine 0.2 mg cause erectile dysfunction in men?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it can: Erection is controlled by blood flow which in turned is controlled by both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (it is a bit complicated). Clonidine blocks part of the sympathetic system and in high dose it can affect erection in some men, particularly the ejaculatory portion of this. So, if you have significant side effect from it, consult doc for eval. Good luck.
