i was treated for ringworm, it hasnt cleared, from pictures it looks like it could be bcc-about 4" around, what do you recommend if i am uninsured?

Get a proper eval: Most cities have low cost clinics  or organizations that  can help people to afford necessary medical care. In your case you need to see a dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. What you describe seems unlikely to be a BCC - those don't usually get as large as what you report. Basal cell tumors are slow growing so this isn't an emergency, but  you do want to find a skin specialist.

i think i have ringworm but i'm not sure. it's on the front of my neck. it looks like pictures i've seen but isn't itchy and not very scaly.

Still possible.: Could still be it.  Could be something else as well.  Unless you are immunocompromised a topical anti fungal such as terbinafine or miconazole should work well. Talk with your local pharmacist and use as directed.

Do what derma says.: Duracan is an antifungal that can be used to treat ringworm. The elica m cream contains another antifungal as well as a steroid. This antifungal treats the ringworm, and the steroid just helps the ringworm be less red and itchy. There are lots of ways to treat ringworm. It is harder to kill fungus on nails so be sure to follow up with your dermatologist whenever you're supposed to go back.

how easily is ringworm passed on to humans from cats? my kitten has it, the internet makes it seem like you'll get it just from being near him. true?

Ringworm contagious: Ringworm is commonly found on kitten and can easily pass to humans as a skin infection. But it is not an absolute that you will get ringworm from the kitten. You can have the vet give medicine to get your cat cured as well. You would have to touch the cat in order to get the infection.

Unlikely: Ringworm is notable in that it has a heaped up outer edge in its ring.

Typical appearance..: Ringworm is very easily obtained from cats.  Remember it is not a worm but a fungal infection. The lesions have a very characteristic appearance and are itchy, and respond well to over the counter anti-fungal creams (Clotrimazole, Terbinafine, etc), but should be treated for a full two weeks at least to ensure resolution.  Topical treatments work for all ringworm except those in the scalp.

Dermatologist: You need to be evaluated by a dermatologist for both diagnosis and treatment as you can't otherwise be sure that you're dealing with ringworm, but if you're correct in your diagnosis you want the best and most effective treatment.

Can carry it: Ringworm is actually a fungal infection of the skin (dermatophytosis) so the name is misleading. Yes -- dogs and cats can carry it and pass it to humans. Ringworm likes moist, warm conditions. For most people it is an itchy reddish annoying area on the skin. Look for bald spots on pets as the source of the ringworm. You and  your pet can be treated with an antifungal to solve the problem.

Mostly from people: Ringworm, or tinea, can come from contact with cats and dogs.  But more commonly, we get tinea from other people (think wrestlers, kids, and gym showers).  Some people are more prone to getting them than others.
