No: Appearance of lumpy texture to breast due to fibrous tissue which is non cancerous and non-precancerous. Associated with hormone changes (so will get better/worse with specific times of menstrual cycle). Subsides with menopause.

Pituitary fxn: Nipple discharge, if not explained on mammography, may be further assisted w/ a complete endocrine function, particularly serum prolactin level from the pituitary gland. If elevated, an MRI brain would be warranted.

swollen, sore breasts 4 over 6 months recent upper back pain as well. i've gained lbs and increased alcohol this past yr also on yr 4 of mirena iud. went for 2 ultras and b t(nothing).dr does not recomend mamo any suggestions? no other symptoms?

: By your description, sounds like you need a breast reduction.  The criteria are based on height/weight, bra cup size, posture, shoulder grooving and side/front views  of pictures which demonstrate your problem.  Also approval based on amount of tissue to be removed.  To ease your discomfort you could begin with Vitamin E 400 iu daily  and reduce caffeine intake to max of 1 cup per day.

Need more workup.: Please keep working with your doctor - the workup is not yet complete.  Breast pain is not normal.

You may need a breast health consult and further imaging such as a breast MRI to complete the evaluation.

Biopsy: Most likely a surgeon will recommend a biopsy.  There are many reasons for microcalcifications. Since the ultrasound was clear he may also recommend an mri. No need for mastectomy without a clear diagnosis of non-udc.

I'm sorry, yes: They must not have removed the calcifications, so they didn't really biopsy the area of concern.  This sometimes happens; the breast can be  confusing terrain, and calcifications are very tiny.  If the radiologist is recommending another biopsy, please have it done. I know from experience how uncomfortable it can be, but this is exactly what a good radiologist does. You want to be sure!

i refuse a regular mamo as i have breast implants..afraid they will pop! i get ultrasounds..is that ok? what are odds they pop? never had any issue with the implants..they are 15yrs old..saline...325cc in each..never hard...never any problems...i would l

Agree : Agree with dr george marosan.

Some of my patients did not want the saline implants any longer and they did not want to spend the money for the surgical removal - so, I have punctured them - without any problems (and i never removed them). You can get the mammogram done, few weeks after that.

just found a marble like inside breast. seen by doctor and was told to get echo(ultra sound?) should i do it or get a mamo done?

Ultrasound: Given your age, start with an ultrasound.  If needed, they will give you a mammo.
