An archaic drug: Has been successfully used in treating trigeminal neuralgia, and later used in epilepsy.  Is not a broad spectrum anti-epileptic and makes absence and myoclonic seizures worse.  Has been used in psychiatry, and off-label for many additonal purposes.  It has sort of a nasty side effect profile, but is still used occasionally due to low cost.

Seizure management: it is advisable that the patient be switched over to other medications  which are ssecond-generation drugs such as Keppra (levetiracetam)  or Lamictal  which are normally more effective and  have less side effects..  Switching her medication has to be done  under medical supervision, please follow through with your neurologist while doing this.  Anti-seizure medications have to be individualized.

Brain circulaton-sz: Why poor circulation ? ischemia  (from clogged vessels)? hypoplastic vessels  ( born with small vessels? carotids? Did MRI show stroke? Do they have a fib? was the seizure  due to stroke/ TIA ( rare)? has the doctor discussed aspirin 81 mg or plavix (clopidogrel) or plental or fish oil ( blood thinners so may cause bleeding) ?  f/u and discuss w/neurology

Depends: Tergretol could  have adverse cardiac effects like hypotension, worsen chf, may cause steven johson and can cause hyponatremia. Please discuss with heart doctor and the prescriber all your medical conditions.

There are a number: Gabapentin and Trileptal are common. Clonazepam, Dilantin and Baclofen are less effective. Some a combination of these meds are used.

Check levels : Eplim (sodium di valproate) and Carbamazepine have some interactions with each other. One needs to measure steady state blood levels. The interactions are complex and depend upon your current activation of liver cytochrome enzymes, renal clearance and degree of protein binding to albumen. Amlodipine use complicates matters further but you can use all three if you adjust dose as needed.

is it ok to take epilim & tegretol medications for    epilepsy with vitamins at the same time? will there be any interference between them? thank you

Yes: I do not see any problem in taking vitamins with these two drugs
