See below: Each stroke is different depending on the severity, location, support and therapy you receive. Continue to follow up with a neurologist, PM&amp;R specialist and physical therapist if you are still prescribed therapy sessions. Talk with your dr about preventive tx for future strokes. An occupational therapist may help you recover some function with some activities of daily living. Recovery is variable.

Unilateral weakness: Sudden weakness on one side of the body could represent either a transient reversible ischemic event (tia, lasting oly a short time) or it could last for anywhere from 24 hrs to permanent (might be a stroke).  Appropriate evaluation and imaging are essential as quickly as possible.

can you tell me if one has stroke on the left side of the body, is it possible for her to walk again. secondly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, can happen: Do not despair, as post-stroke rehab can be rather amazing.  Pt and ot can provide loads of success, and bracing systems, walkers, canadian crutches, meds, tincture of time will all be useful.

Not uncommon: Depending on what part of the brain is affected, a stroke can cause weakness, decreased sensation in the face or body, or both. It sounds like your mother's stroke has affected the power of her muscles more than it has affected the pathways responsible for sensation. This is not uncommon.

: Following a stroke, especially involving the parietal lobe, the syndrome of "hemispatial neglect" can occur.  This is not "intentional", as the victim has a limited ability to recognize what has specifically occurred.  This may improve over time, but healing and partial recovery may proceed over 12-18 months.

Not always: Facial droop is a common symptom in most strokes, but not all patients with stroke will develop facial droop.

is "functional sensory symptoms" or "functional sensory syndrome" a real thing?  i get weakness and tingling on one side frequently.  not a stroke.

For any condition: That is "functional" to the patient, the symptoms are real and not feigned, the brain is playing tricks on your body.  Getting patients to accept a diagnosis is not easy.  I advised that you research if there are any behavioral health groups in your region that are experienced with these conditions.  Again, you are not crazy, but you do need to seek assistance.

See a physician ASAP: You need to have a comprehensive examination by a physician ASAP;  Any possible stroke diagnosis has to be ruled out; Once you are told is not due to a stroke or another physical disease, you may consider an anxiety disorder; This has to be diagnosed by a Psychiatrist in a comprehensive evaluation;
