Cervical length ?'s: It is not unusual for the cervical length to decrease during pregnancy, however, at "13 weeks" of pregnancy, the growing fetus is not generally the cause.  If you have had no prior premature labor, the majority of pregnancies to not result in an "incompetent cervix" which results in premature delivery or surgical correction.  Continued U/S to follow cervical length is advised.

Fibers and fluids: Benefiber, metamucil, fibercon are all safe for use during pregnancy. Increase fluids and keep active. Roughages such as fresh/leafy veggies and fruits are healthy and will help constipation as well. Mineral oil can also be used because it is not absorbed. If hypothyroid, dosge of med may need to be increased. If persistent, consult doc for eval. Congrats on your pregnancy. Good luck.

Not likely: Yes, it's possible but rare. The trick is if your doctor was certain he/she saw a gs or some other intrauterine fluid collection. With a sure gs, risk of also having ectopic is exceedingly low.

An early ultrasound: If done properly is very accurate for dating, the only way to know exactly when u are due is to know exactly when u conceived which most women do not unless u are doing infertilty or have had just one intercourse.
