Candidal vaginitis: Canesten is clotrimazole, an antifungal medication that should help against vaginal candidiasis.
It's possible though that the Candida may have some resistance, or there is something going on besides just a simple candidal infection. I would recommend going to see your GYN doctor. They can certainly help - by making the correct diagnosis and guiding treatment more effectively.

Fungal infection: It is likely a vaginal fungal infection (candida) secondary to antibiotic use. Call your doctor as there are prescription meds that will easily treat this.

Yes it can : It is largely used also in pregnant ladies. However, it cannot be overlooked the fact that candidal vulvovaginitis is most common in pregnancy. A swab will often show yeasts when obtained even in asymptomatic patients and the condition in itself is not known as to be harmful.
