Malignant nerve: Yes you can cut and remove a portion of v2 branch of the trigeminal nerve in the case of a cancerous lesion. The cutting of the nerve will leave facial numbness in the cheek region on the affected side.

how do you tell the difference between a cyst and a cancerous tumor under the skin?

Accepted Answer

Skin: Masses under the skin that are rubbery and freely mobile are often benign, but the only way to really know would be an excision or tissue sampling and examination of the tissue by a pathologist.  Imaging (such as ultrasound, ct scan, or mri), may also be helpful.

Reconstructive : Surgery can address the cosmetic issue. As the defect is due to cancer, it is likely to be covered by insurance. Please discuss the matter with your cancer doctor to ensure there is no contraindication and for him/her to make the referral.

Examination: Have an oral surgeon examine you. They are trained to diagnose these types of lesions and take a biopsy if indicated. Avoid searching the internet to diagnose yourself... you'll never get peace of mind.

are acrochordons a malignant tumor or skin cancer?

Neither: Acrochordons are a fancy name for skin tags, which are benign (not cancerous) growths that tend to occur as we age.  They can often be found on the neck, armpits, and groin-- pretty much anywhere where the skin tends to rub.  No one knows what causes them, but they are definitely not dangerous.  Many things can look like skin tags though, so best to see your dermatologist to check them out.

i have had a hard immovable lump behind my ear for 4 years. i am worried it is an encapsulated cancerous tumor. will an encapsulated tumor grow?

Cancer unlikely: If a mass has been there for 4 years and has not grown, it is not cancer. Should the lump double in size, ulcerate, bleed or become painful, see a doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Sebaceous cyst: In that area it is most likely a sebaceous cyst. It is just a collection of retained sebum - a skin oil produced by sebaceous glands. This gland is in the shaft of the hair and keeps the hair nice and shiny. It can be electively excised.

Unlikely: Pain produced by pushing on your shoulder that radiates to the head is unlikely to be caused by a brain tumor.  Headaches, in general, are common and the vast majority are unrelated to a tumor.
