Correlate: There's nothing magic about a particular number. Some people with cancer involving the brain and spinal cord surface do not shed the cancer cells into the CSF. Your pathologist can determine where the cells probably came from and guide the clinician in treatment. Depending on the type of cancer, it may still be curable or manageable for at least some more good time.

i had a pet scan, it showed a 1.7 squamish cell cancer in my left lung. they pulled fluid off my right lung and it showed no cancer cells.tumer is in my left lung. is it possible that in the right lung lymp node to be cancer?no color on ps?

: The fact that there is a squamous cell tumor in the left long does not have any bearing on what is going on in the right lung. I would be curious, though, to try to understand why you have fluid in the right lung if there is no tumor there. It might be a discussion to have with your physicians. Good luck.

dad is booked in for key hole surgery to get biopsy of growth on plural of lung. had fluid drained no cancer cells in there - diagnosed with pneumonia from bloods in ed. previously worked with asbestos. what else could it be other than cancer?

: The growth may represent scar tissue, and it is reassuring that there were no cancer cells. Follow up with your PCP regarding cancer blood biomarkers, particularly if you have symptoms. An infection of the lungs and lining of the lungs may be the underlying cause, and ruling out TB is another consideration.

It really depends: The chances of turning into cancer depends on many factors, the main one being if it is high or low grade.  Other factors that may need to be addressed would be a possible infection such as h pylori playing a role or excessive acid production.   I would recommend you clarify precisely what the finding was and what the treatment and follow up should be with the diagnosing physician before 6 months.

Depends: This depends upon the type and quantity of fluid and the setting in which it was present. I am assuming this is fluid within the abdomen outside of the stomach. Example benign causes of fluid in the abdomen include: liver disease, infection/inflammation, and recent ovulation. This is a question best answered by your PCP. They can review all of the available information and help with any concerns.

Several ways: There are several causes of ascites in the setting of liver cancer and what is most likely can depend on which cancer.  In the U.S. its usually portal hypertension from underlying liver disease like cirrhosis.  Also common is cancer spread to the peritoneal lining.  Finally, liver failure from extensive cancer spread and/or underlying cirrhosis is a cause - .  Several other ways - too complex for 400  characters.

Advanced stage: Ascites  or fluid in the abdomen develops in the cancer of stomach in late stages in the cancer of stomach due to invasion of peritoneum.

Stage 4 Cancer: Not necessarily, but it does suggest at least inter abdominal spread, if not metastatic disease to the liver. An imaging study of the liver and abdomen can tell where it has spread.
