As : As you age, changes in your hormone levels can cause issues that can make sex uncomfortable.  Luckily, they're treatable!  here are a few tips below.

- vaginal dryness: as you age, your estrogen levels decrease which can lead to vaginal dryness.  Lubricants can help - don't be afraid to explore different kinds.  Many of the newer, water-based ones can provide a silky smooth feel as opposed to the sticky old-fashioned medical types.

- thinning vaginal walls: also a result of decreased estrogen.  Talk to your ob/gyne.  They may be able to prescribe a topical estrogen cream or other medication to help thicken vaginal walls and make sex more comfortable.

- foreplay:  make him work for it.  As you age, it can take a little longer to become aroused, so enjoy each other for a while first - the more aroused you are, the more enjoyable the sex will be.

The good news:  your vagina doesn't shrivel up or shrink.  You are just fine.

And a tip for all women:  urinate immediately after sex.  This helps to wash out any bacteria that could have been pushed into your urethra while having sex, thus avoiding a urinary tract infection.  And practice safe sex.  Sexually transmitted diseases do not discriminate based on age.

i have a large ovarian cyst which is pressing on my bladder, i got ultrasound which confirmed this. can you prescribe me medication to shrink this cyst on my ovary?

: There is no medication to shrink ovarian cysts. Follow up ultrasounds will monitor the cyst. If this is a recurring problem for you, starting hormonal contraceptive pills may help to prevent future occurrences. If the ovarian cyst lasts longer than 3-4 months with no change, or if it is noted to be complex with multiple sacs, your Dr may consider surgery to remove it.

Yes : Once you go through menopause, defined as no period for 12 months, then your uterus will get slightly smaller and the adenomyosis will get better.  If there is any confusion about the source of your pain, call your doctor !
