: Pinworms are unusual in adults, arising from ingesting pinworm eggs that hatch in the intestines. The female crawls out the anus to lay eggs in a glue that can cause itching. If you get the eggs on your fingers they can be ingested &amp; you will get them. This does not pass like regular germs in saliva or through sex. There are many things that cause anal itching. Unless confirmed, he's likely wrong

Pinworm treatments include anthelmintic medications like Albendazole (Albenza), Mebendazole (vermox) or pyrantel  (Pin-X, Antiminth). Good handwashing is important. Wash clothing that has been worn recently, bed linens, upholstery and carpeting

The risk is only for the oral partner who might be infected and later have develop his or her own rectal pinworm infection. Someone with anal pinworms can transmit sexually only to someone who performs anal sex on him or her. In that situation, best to wait a few days after treatment.

The DX is made by putting a piece of scotch tape close to your anus and then looking for eggs on the tape with a microscope. Better than stool exam.

No: No, pinworms are very common. Many people don't even know they have them. If your doctor has found them on a tape test then you have them. Follow your doctor's directionns for treatment.
