Yes: Alcoholism is associated with, among other things, B12 and Folic Acid deficiencies.  You should not, however, have a problem if you eat right, exercise, and drink alcohol only in moderation.  If you are an alcoholic then vitamin deficiency is only a part of the problem, and the problems won't improve until the alcohol abuse stops no matter how many supplements you take.

Thiamine, folate (folic acid): Thiamine and folate (folic acid) are the most common vitamin deficiencies. Multivitamins are commonly included during withdrawal treatment. Nutritional support is important because patients are often malnourished, but can be problematic early in the process if withdrawal symptoms are severe. Withdrawal is a serious condition and must be monitored in the hospital rather than attempted at home.

: You have made an excellent decision, and do hope you are successful in your new endeavors.  Not unique to have challenges transforming your life.  Do not seek an increase in energy through medications.  Instead, engage in regular aerobic exercise, have your doctor do a thorough checkup, and engage in cognitive-behavioral therapy.  Be patient and go from day to day.  It will improve.

i took .25mg of xanax (alprazolam) just for a couple of days, took my last one 5 weeks ago. i hope to get pregnant. how soon after stopping these meds can i conceive safely? i did take my prenatal vitamins, didn't smoke, no alcohol and ate healthy?

: Five weeks is plenty of time for your body to clear the alprazolam.  Assuming no other problems, you can safely conceive now.

Stop: Alcohol is a metabolic poison and can affect heart function as well. Consider getting your heart checked out, possibly by 2d echo. Consider coenzyme q10 supplementation. Cut back on quantity of alcohol or stop.

hello, i currently suffer from anemia from a lack of vitamin b12 and take supplements for it. i am ashamed to admit i experimented with alcohol enemas multiple times. should/how do i ask my family doctor to test for this? maybe colon cancer etc?

: Test for what? Cancer? Unlikely! Alcohol via enema is just another method of alcohol exposure/intake. While potentially irritating to the tissue it self heals easily. Is your anemia truly B12 related? That is a known defect of absorption. There are many possible contributing factors. Talking with your doc about all your concerns is a worthy and reasonable practice. We want to know so we can help.

Unsure: There are few studies in humans on this that I have been able to locate.  Some of the damage that alcohol does to the body involves increases in oxidizing substances, where anti-oxidants can help prevent damage, and vitamin E is an anti-oxidant.  Some people feel that extra vitamin E may be helpful in those with alcoholism, but there is no real proof of this.  15-30 mg of vit e would be reasonable.

i am taking medicine and vitamin, i drank 1 glass of alcohol. will it be poisonous? will i die?

Depression: Call your doctor and ask this question, without knowing what you are taking it is difficult to answer although it is hard to imagine you could die from taking a prescribed medication and a vitamin with one drink. Call your prescribing doctor and don't continue drinking. Best.
