Yes: That is fine. It is best to take Vit. D with food to enhance absorption. It is OK to take Zantac with food as well, though it is often advised to take it at bedtime.

Yes: The short answer is yes. Although not directly as the vitamin d in your supplement (which is either D3 or d3) has to be converted first by your body (in the kidneys) to the active form of vitamin d (called calcitriol). This latter product will in turn aid in the absorption of calcium in the gut.

Most people can take 1000 mg of this daily and not risk over dosing the vitamin.  Other may need to take as much as 50, 000 units weekly to get to a normal level.  Have a level checked and let your pcp guide you on the dosing.   Be careful.

7.Yogurt, fortified with 20% of the DV for vitamin D

Very Low Vit D: You could take 50, 000 iu/day for a month then recheck vit d level. If it's between 40-60, then start taking 5-10, 000 iu per day.

51 iu or 51 nl/ml?: If your blood level is 51 ng/ml you have more than sufficient vitamin d and you don't need to supplement whatsoever.  A recent analysis of many vitamin d studies showed that vitamin d supplementing almost never improves health unless you address why the vitamin d was low in the first place.

Depends: Breastfed infants need vitamin d supplements, however once a child is eating solid food and drinking vitamin d fortified milk it is not necessary as they are probably getting the recommended 400iu of vitamin d.  However some children with chronic diseases may need supplements in addition to their dietary intake.
