Yes: These are a safe way to supplement your calcium intake butr do not take them with prenatal vitamins.  If taken together, absorption of other minerals may be blocked

Yes, supplement: In addition to a well-balanced diet, calcium may be supplemented. 600-1200mg/day of calcium is appropriate. In addition, many women are deficient in vitamin d. 200-400iu of vitamin d, in addition to prenatal vitamin supplementation, should suffice. Your obstetrician may screen for vitamin d deficiency by doing certain bloodwork. There are many brands that combine calcium and vitamin d together.

Yes: Make sure it has the appropriate number of calcium and FOLATE_ you want at least 4mg of folate (folic acid) to prevent brain problems and spinal cord problems. I suggest you get the prenatal vitamins your OB dr suggests

You dont have to: Universal recommendation is folic acid, DHA and iron to prevent deformity of brain and spinal cord of the baby and anemia of mom. Calcium is not needed if you eat/drink adequate milk and dairy products. 
Taking extra calcium 500 mg/day is no harm, but you may be constipated from both iron and Calcium. Take Calcium few hours apart from other meds since calcium can bind with other meds.

can i take a separate calcium vitamin whilst pregnant, and what would be a safe vitamin to take. this is over and above my pregnancy vitamin which contains 500mg of calcium which i believe is not sufficient?

Calcium in pregnancy: The requirements for calcium are the same for pregnant and nonpregnant females. (IOM 2011)The amount is between 1000mg and 1200mg daily. Preferably this can be achieved through your diet. If dietary changes and lifestyle modifications are insufficient, calcium carbonate can be added but you should work closely with your obstetrician about dose. More is not better.

can i take calcium, b12 and d3 vitamins while pregnant?

Vitamin D & calcium: It's probably a good idea to take calcium and possibly vitamin d3 while pregnant. Talk to your doctor about the dosage that is recommended for you. Unless you eat a vegan diet (no animal products) you probably don't need to take more vitamin B12 than is in prenatal vitamins.

Calmag: The composition of the supplement sounds ok, but you should ask your pregnancy doc because he needs to be comfortable with your choice.

No : I don't think so, just take your multi-vitamin and Iron pills.
