i take adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) 30mg but i stopped due to 3rd molar extraction 5 days ago. i'm now taking penicilin 500 &vicodin. i'm having mood swings. is it normal?

No: I wonder if the opiates and stress uncovered a mood disorder.  Generally mild if no withdrawal from stopping 30 mg of amphetamine salts

Probably, but..: It would be safer to get testing to penicillin before taking ceclor. On the other hand, if the reaction was that of joint ache, fatigue, fever etc from ceclor, it would be highly unlikely for  you to react to penicillin.

Maybe: Penicillins (like amoxil) & cephalosporins (like keflex) are both beta-lactam antibiotics named because of their ringed chemical structure. Allergy to penicillins is sometimes directed against this ring, and an allergic reaction may also occur if a similar antibiotic is taken. It is estimated that about 10% of penicillin-allergic patients are also allergic to cephalosporins like keflex.

Accepted Answer

Yes: I have been using Ceftin (cefuroxime axetil)  in penicillin allergic patients for years without any problem.  You can safely take 
ceftin.  Other antibiotics that can be used are the fluoroquinolones such as Ciprofloxacin or levaquin (levofloxacin).  The latter is more expensive but has a very low rate of bacterial resistance.

Yes: Penicillin is fine in pregnancy.
