Its very important to make sure that the food pipe is not blocked. If you are not able to swallow anything including saliva then please report to the nearest er right now, you may need a gastroscopy to relieve the obstruction. Also make sure that the breathing is normal.

around 4-5pm yesterday someone heated shrimp in the microwave near me, i inhaled the fumes from it. its now 2:30pm the next day and it hurts a little to swallow (thick mucus) and my back/sides hurt pretty bad. is this an emergency??

Sore throat.: You may have pharyngitis which could be bacterial or viral infection. You need to see your primary care doctor. He may take a swab from the throat for streptococcus or influenza.

Seasonal flu: It is very common viral infection. Usually the condition resolves on its own with home care. Drink water and get a good rest. If there is no improvement or sore throat is severe or lasts longer than another week, or you are getting joint pain; see your pcp for evaluation.

Cold drink: In some people cold drink can cause stomach cramps due to temperature difference, cold drinks can cause constriction of stomach vessles, as soon as the water temperature reaches the stomach temperature the pain should go away. Try drinking the room temp fluid.

Spasm: Discomfort possibly due to spasm in the esophagus although usually discomfort is felt in the chest & not the back. See your doctor.
