ct scan to see liver, kidney, maybe bowel. will i see what i need to see w/o drinking barium? looking for stones, kidney swelling, liver issues mainly. no contrast of any kind. is that ok?

Depends: CT scan for abdomen without any contrast can be fine for kidney or stone related issues. To observe bowel pathology or problems barium is recommended. IV contrast enhances the abdominal organs better and is usually recommended for even liver , gall bladder problems.

2 See Ur Intestine: A ct of the abdomen can be very helpful for diagnosing recurrent hernias. An important part of the study is to look at the intestine relative to the hernia. Contrast in the intestine makes the interpretation of these films much easier.

You may have: ingested a relatively radiopaque substance in the past couple of days(for example, Maalox or Pepto-Bismol), which showed up on the CT scan looking like oral contrast.

Diverticulitis: You are so young for diverticulitis. You better rest those bowels for a few days and flush them out and then change your eating habits or you will have problems as you age

Possible obstruction: You may possibly have a bowel obstruction developing. Some times after abdominal or intestinal surgery, scarring may occur. It is also possible that they has been some tissue overgrowth partially blocking the intestinal opening.
At any rate, discuss this with your GI surgeon and radiologist to get thorough interpretation of what the findings mean for you.

: No, this common CT technique which is usually done in acute abdominal conditions without time for preparation does not detect colon lesion. However, a different technique called CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy) can be used as a screening tool for colon cancer but you need bowel cleaning + drinking oral contrast for preparation + air insufflation per rectum just before the CT done.

Possibly: CT of the abdomen with IV contrast may show a bowel obstruction. If it does show up, that is good. If it does not show an obstruction and one is suspected oral contrast maybe needed.

CT interpretation: Are u sure you have not had any other contrast imaging study within  a few days before this CT you mentioned? If not then the CT you had must have been with contrast. Never the less, it sound like  you have had a normal result with contrast appropriately moving through the small bowel and colon.  Good luck I hope you feel better
