: If the pain feels like heartburn, GERD should be considered. Discuss a trial of an over the counter proton pump inhibitor with your physician. Chest wall inflammation usually worsens with pressing on the rib cage and is relieved with rest, local heat and ibuprofen. 
Watch for signs of respiratory difficulty, cough and fatigue. If you have had COVID 19, a cardiac evaluation is indicated. PCP visit.
