Not as well as cook: Freezing may kill some, but cooking is best.  Freezing and refrigeration slows down bacterial growth.

Salmonella: this organism is most commonly found in eggs and poultry. Eggs need to be cooked until both the white and yolk are firm. egg dishes to 160 degrees F and poultry to 165 degrees F.

In vitro, yes but...: In vivo, it would render your fish dish unpalatable and rather expensive. Since silver ions (single free-form silver) produce free radicles that can kill bacteria(the process can be done in a petri dish), it would mean impregnating and infusing your fish with silver- yuck.

If cooked enough: Germ is killed by heat.  Can't get rid of them in sprouts.  Undercooked poultry, eggs (runny), rare burgers.  
Any raw animal product (yes, that includes sushi) can be assumed to be contaminated by bacteria.  The only fresh fish is the one you caught yourself.

Raw Risk: Make sure you get your sprouts from a trusted source. If sprouts are exposed to animal fertilizers or unsanitary hands, you are at risk of contracting food poisoning. Cold water washing sometimes isn't enough to wash the bacteria off and cooking is your only way to kill these bacteria.

Usually not: baby wipes are mild soap containing products that usually wipe feces off skin without causing irritation; unless the wipes say they kill bacteria, they usually do not.  disinfectant wipes usually read "do not use on skin" but they kill bacteria.  washing hands and giving clean food is all the baby needs.  Do not fear salmonella or listeria in normal food products.

i read on a canadian pathogen safety website that to kill salmonella typhi on surfaces 70% ethanol works. but i have 80% ethanol and 72% ethanol. will they work?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Higher concentrations will work even better. Lower than 70% concentration may not work as good. Hand hygiene otherwise remains best in preventing Salmonella infections.
